Confession and spiritual Legacy of the Aviation Pioneer Dr. Ing. h.c. Igo Etrich

-25 - Epilogue (by Leopold Kobosil) I am constantly asked to give an account of the circumstances and the day Dr. Ing. h. c. Igo Etrich died, the following lines will give you an explanation. Even aged 88 years old, Dr. Ing. h. c. Igo Etrich still had an excellent mind and the capacity to remember things and this allowed him to recall evert detail of his eventful life. During his last days he complained about a weakness in his legs and he therefore preferred to rest in his bed. He telephoned me at 7pm on the 3rd of February 1968 and asked me to visit him as he expressed the wish to talk to me. I drove the Salzburg with my wife and this is where we found Dr. Etrich in his house in bed. After he made me promise to ensure that this brochure with it “spiritual insights” was made available to interested people, he asked us to pray with him, we were happy to oblige because we knew about his intimate connection with God. He then lay back into his pillows and was soon peacefully asleep. The next morning, the 4th of February 1968, we received the news that his heart had stopped beating at 4am. His mortal shell was interred it the Tomb of Honour of the Municipality at the Municipal Cemetery in Salzburg and this with great honours and in the presence of numerous delegations from his own country and from abroad.
