As an example, I mention the Greek geographer, astronomer and mathematician Pytheas from the Greek colony of Massilia (today’s Marseille). He undertook a sea voyage from Cadiz (Spain) in a northerly direction in 330 BC. Sailing between Ireland and England and past the Orkney Island, he reached Norway and then Thule (Iceland or Greenland). On his return Pytheas reported about frozen coastal waters during winter, the midnight sun and the people that lived in Thule at that time. But hardly anyone was prepared to believe him. Most of them thought that he was a braggart and a liar. The same thing can happen to people that report about the world of the hereafter. But it isn’t really necessary for everyone to believe such reports.
