May 1958 The medium’s intellect The fact that most people derisively smile or become aggressive when one asserts that human beings continue to live an otherworldly LIFE is quite incredible. Is this assertion scientifically proven or not – or covered with Shakespeare’s words: “To be or not to be, that is the question”? The answer is: One’s otherworldly existence is scientifically proven. But why is this assertion, if it is proven, derided and why are those that promote this truth declared insane ? The reasons for this are completely different than one assumes. Spiritism, spiritualism, as well as the rest of occultism are fields of knowledge that represent their own science, but due to the extremely great difficulties in regards to repeatable experiments in laboratories and auditoriums at the world’s universities, they were never integrated into the “exact sciences”. The dependability on a medium (mediator) as well as the VIBRATIONAL CONDITIONS of spirit FORCES make such experiment almost impossible to repeat. We are dealing with supernatural FORCES that withdraw the moment the already difficult conditions are interfered with . This uncertainty was the main reason why this new science had to rely on itself. University professors, lecturers and researchers beholden to universities are therefore confronted by the supernatural without experience and because of their exact sciences that only allow controlled and measurable experiments whose provisos are easier to fulfil, are difficult to convince that the medium is actually utilised by SPIRIT and not controlled by its own intellect. The spiritualist and spiritist who faithfully engage in this supernatural science know with sufficient certainty that the WORLD of the HEREAFTER exists and that it endeavours to give us information about it. But the understanding and the support of recognised scientists are unfortunately lacking. The permanent contempt showed these phenomena, that often enough border on pure magic, led to a situation where well-known personalities are afraid of being branded religious zealots . There are indeed all too many zealots and completely misguided people in this field of knowledge who in
