5 France often feels strengthened in its actions through the support of the great Eastern Bloc nations and it continuously expect their help. But this help was not forthcoming. France already experienced this and it now tries to pull out all stops to prove its power and regain respect on its own. The fact that many people will lose their life is immaterial.
