Three focal points: Hungary, Poland, Rumania . Well, Bulgaria also belongs to this alliance. It is actually an alliance of four. You would call it an “underground movement”, but that’ not what this is. They are not making any demands, they are not asking for anything – only freedom . These four Eastern Bloc nations will manage it together. You can depend on it. They represent a quarter of Europe. That’s something to write home about! What should the West do? Isn’t this your next question? – Well my dear friends, the West sits on a tinderbox, because Communism gave it an ultimatum: Keep quiet or your skyscrapers will fall like houses built from cards. Americans are business people. They are not easily persuaded to go to war for a small nation. This would cost them too much financially. This is why they keep quiet about this problem. The English and the French got themselves into trouble over this. So who is left? Left are really little nations like the Scandinavian nations, Switzerland, Italy, Spain etc. They are so small that they would be simply trampled underfoot. This is out of the question. The Americans – had they found support – would have helped, but they haven’t the strength to do this alone. They have enough things to deal with in their own country. The Americans cannot be everywhere. But in spite of this my friends, you can believe me when I say that the Americans will do everything in their power to bring this bloodletting to an end.
