What AREDOS tells us March 1964 Question : Why is it that today’s youth shows so little respect for one another? AREDOS : It depends on the development during their childhood: • It is not right that children, that is to say, that boys and girls are instructed in the same classroom. This is how immature people get to know one another in a way that robs them of the mystery of the respective sexes. Children observe one another in more detail than one thinks. Boys lose their respect for girls – and vice versa . The other gender therefore ceases to be a secret. They see the character of the other gender before it has matured and, in their immaturity, interpret it incorrectly . This is the reason why young boys and later as young gentlemen, no longer fulfil the roles of protectors to the female gender. On the contrary – they disrespect it and this is why sex crimes are often the result. Responsible pedagogues are of the opinion that the two genders have to get to know their respective kind at the right time so that a comradeship can develop. This opinion is however a mistake . Not a competition in regards to knowledge and ability ensues, but an enhanced craving for recognition by the other gender. Girls are quite often regarded as “silly cows” and girls in return try to show up boys whenever they can. Schools reveal all manner of gender related weaknesses and the essence of men or women is also no longer a secret. It is not worth looking for something that is already known. Young men later lack a certain chivalry in regards to the weaker sex. This is the reason why the female gender feels unprotected and no longer sees an imagined ideal in men. Conjoint schools, respectively coeducation are an unbearable and irresponsible evil. It is a false way to educate . • A classroom full of girls remains something secretive, something special to a classroom of boys. Children and adolescents behave completely different within the company of their own gender, they are more obedient and show far more respect for their educators. When assessing this situation one has to remember a priory that one is dealing with immature and uneducated people. Male pedagogues are also self-conscious when they have to admonish or punish a boy or a number of boys in the presence of a lot of girls. Such actions will come back to haunt them, because they are a member of the same sex. The reverse also applies.
