Jesus Christ

61 of His day. All in all He made a deep impression upon me and everyone because of His kindness, simplicity, humility and love. Now, Noble Sovereign, these are the facts concerning Jesus of Nazareth and I have taken the time to write you in detail concerning these matters. I say that such a man who could convert water into wine, change death into life, disease into health, calm the stormy seas, is not guilty of any criminal offence and as others have said, we must agree truly this is the Son of God! Your most obedient servant, PONTIUS PILATE” A document about Jesus Christ Shortly before the outbreak of World War II, a document was discovered in the library of the Catholic Order, the Lazarists, in Switzerland, that possesses great religious-historical value. We are dealing with a letter Publius Lentulus 3 , the predecessor of Pontius Pilate, wrote to Caesar in Rome, in his capacity as governor of Judea. This letter mentions Jesus Christ and it was written in Latin and its translation goes as follows: “The governor of Judea, Publius Lentulus, to the Roman Emperor Caesar! It has come to my attention and I fee that you should be informed, oh Caesar, about a virtuous man called Jesus Christ, whom the public consider to be a prophet, a son of God and who’s disciples maintain that he is the son of God, the creator of Heaven and Earth. Indeed dear Caesar, one hears some wonderful things about this man every day. He is a man of medium height, has a venerable aspect, bears himself with majestic dignity something that is expressed in his noble facial features so when one beholds him, one instinctively gets the feeling that one should love him and fear him at the same time. His hair, down to his ears, is the colour of ripe hazelnuts and from there, down to his shoulders, a shining light coloured blond, his hair is parted in the middle according to the customs of the Nazarenes. The beard is curly and of the same colour as the hair on his head and without actually being long, it is parted in the middle. His gaze is austere and possesses the strength of a ray of sunshine. Nobody can withstand his gaze. His hands are beautiful and his arms likewise. Everybody finds his conversation pleasant and appealing. He is not often seen in public, but when he does appear somewhere, he acts very unassuming. He bears himself very nobly. He is beautiful. 3 According to the Catholic dictionary, Lentulus, PUBLIUS, is a fictitious person, said to have been Governor of Judea before Pontius Pilate, and to have written the following letter to the Roman Senate:
